Which fertilizer to use to make a soil fertile

How can soil be made fertile? Thanks to the fertilizer. However, there are rules to follow to ensure that everything goes smoothly. Let’s see how to do it step by step.

A fertile ground can be obtained thanks to a skilful combination of elements: nitrogen, phosphorus, potassium, iron, zinc and others chemical substances and other elements that represent the nutrients. Then, the decomposition process of the organic substance is necessary, thanks to the microbial activity.

Thanks to this process it can be achieved humification and mineralization. Other important factors are represented by the texture and physical characteristics of the soil, which will allow him to regenerate from the point of view of fertility.

Therefore, the characteristics of the soil can also influence fertilization. For example, if it is too sandy in consistency or if it is too dry, the soil becomes impoverished and washed out quickly. If, on the other hand, it is equipped with a clay-like component it is able to retain the fertilizer better. The grain size of the soil, therefore, it must be correct to make the fertilizer hold better.

In the ground, a very important factor is the pH which can significantly affect the fertilization of the soil. But this is not the last factor. When man cultivates a land, in fact, its fertility can also derive from: types of tillage, irrigation, mulching.

Fertile soil: what it means

Fertile soil is important for any type of cultivation, whether it is a vegetable garden or a lawn. But what exactly does fertile ground mean? A soil is fertile when it is particularly rich in micro flora, but also in micro fauna.

These are very important organisms for the role they play. In fact, they make the nutrients for plants available and present. Of course, though, the reserves are not inexhaustible, the nutrients can run out soon. So here is that, the fertility of the soil must be maintained. Like? Feeding the soil regularly. What is it for? To ensure that plants can grow stronger, to defend themselves from parasites and resist adverse climates.

The organic substance present in the soil, in the measure of its quantity and quality, defines e regulates the fertility of the soil. To form the organic substance, plant parts (eg leaves) and decomposed animals (eg insects) are needed. The organic substance allows the life of microorganisms and helps the soil physically and chemically.

Fertility can be measured own on the basis of the organic substance which should be equal to 20, 25 grams for each kilogram of soil. The test is performed in the laboratory.

Natural fertilizers and industrial fertilizers

Let’s now see the distinction between natural fertilizers and industrial fertilizers. The natural fertilizer par excellence is manure. The latter serves to provide the soil with the necessary nourishment. In addition, it can improve their conditions.

The most popular manure is horse manure, well mature. In second place guano, then ox blood. Obviously, among the natural fertilizers, vegetable ones also stand out, such as that obtained from algae. In addition, organic household waste, the so-called compost, can be used.

Industrial fertilizer is often preferred to natural fertilizer in home gardens, but also in potted plants. Industrial fertilizer can also have a biological type matrix. Inside them are amino acids known as nutritional acids. They are the ones who activate the production of chlorophyll. In addition, they regulate the processes of photosynthesis.

Industrial fertilizers can be: powder, granules, liquids. Those that are more rapidly absorbed are absorbed by the soil more slowly.

The soil of your garden (or your vases) it must also be fertilized throughout the year, in what is called maintenance fertilization. In this case, it will be necessary to interpret the deficiencies of the soil:

if your plants grow slowly and their leaves are pale then may be deficient in Nitrogen (N).
