The young couple who own this flat, located in the centre of Madrid, decided to undertake a comprehensive reform to adapt it to their needs and lifestyle. One of the main objectives was to generate larger and more connected spaces, which would be bright, comfortable and functional in their daily lives.
Thus, the Docrys & DC study proceeded to to join kitchen, dining room and living roomThis is a large, open-plan room that becomes the new core of the house, the place where users will spend most of their time.
The elimination of expendable partitions brought with it an unexpected surprise: the discovery of a cement column which, because of its strength and character, remained intact and with the original surface in view.
This element provides an urban and industrial touch to a sober and contemporary interior design, created with simple lines and shapes, neutral tones and an admirable application of the principles of minimalism.
The notes of wood and colour, provided by the floor coverings and auxiliary furniture, provide a warm counterpoint that helps to create a welcoming, harmonious and serene atmosphere.
The kitchen is organized from an island located in the center of the space shared with the living room, from where it acts as a link between the two environments.
This element houses the sink area and includes, on its inner side, an integrated dishwasher, a sink unit with recycling bins, and a drawer unit with three levels of fully extractable, high-capacity drawers.
The Silestone worktop White ZeusThe bar, projected towards the outside, becomes a comfortable bar to enjoy any meal of the day.
The set is illuminated by three lamps Aplomb Mini by Foscarini, matched by its grey finish with the cement column. Near the island, serving the dining area, two column cabinets were installed that incorporate the refrigerator and storage spaces.
The rest of the furniture is arranged along the wall that runs parallel to the island. The cooking area occupies the central part, with two plate-holder modules and two folding opening wall cabinets, which conceal the smoke extraction system and the boiler.
This shelf is closed with a column cabinet at each endOn the left, a washing and drying column houses the washing machine, the dryer and space to store cleaning products; on the right, an oven column integrates an oven, a microwave and service modules.
The continuity of the parquet is interrupted only in the kitchen work area, where a porcelain floor Provence of Equipe, inspired by traditional hydraulic tiles, visually delimits and defines the room.
The furniture designed by Santos, with its pure lines and smooth fronts, is very much in keeping with the elegant approach and content of the interior design.
The distribution proposed, on the other hand, manages to put within reach everything necessary to prepare a dish, reducing unnecessary movements. In addition, the free corridor around the island allows several users to share tasks or spaces without bothering.
