A Provencal-style kitchen

a Provencal-style kitchen, before and after

How we like Provencal kitchens! It does not matter if it is an apartment in Seville or a flat in Santander, the effect is the same: soft colors, natural materials, lots of light and a cozy atmosphere that takes us as if by magic to the relaxation of the French countryside.

On this occasion, the architect from Tortosa, Ivan Gas, has made a surprising transformation with this provencal style kitchen. ” Above all, I wanted to create a cozy kitchen that would say ‘good morning!’ happy, loaded with good vibes and that allowed my clients to start the day with the most energy possible. ”

With this purpose, the project was proposed from the perspective of creating a new space and not from the prism of reforming only the kitchen cabinet. A pleasant and memorable experience was the main condition for the design to hit the key. “Nowadays, people not only ask me to make their kitchen functional (which of course) but they demand an endearing experience from me.”

The Provencal style has an aesthetic associated with beauty, harmony and subtlety, values that are very much in line with the demand for this commission. For this reason, the kitchen was intended to have that Provencal appearance, but with eclectic hues to avoid creating an overly ornate look. Somehow we can say that the kitchen is a fresh and modernized provence style.

The architect insists that ” my kitchens are not hidden, quite the contrary, they have a very marked language and style because I want to give them personality. A kitchen without personality doesn’t convey anything, and that doesn’t interest me. ”

The project plays with pastel green, stone conglomerate, aged wood and geometric tiles to solve all the encounters. The same material appears in different places, such as the wood on the table, but also as a background for the backlit display case.

Light arises in different circuits to adapt to different moments. More functional lighting can give way to dimmer, more hidden light for evening tea or a glass of wine.

The pastel green display case is not only an additional supporting piece of furniture, it also acts as a lamp and creates a backdrop for the dining room table.
