Frozen Homemade Plasticine| Printable Cards

Some time ago I shared an infallible homemade play dough recipe for your little ones that was an incredible success! I introduced her to you as “Homemade plasticine, the best recipe“. And so it is, the best recipe tested and ultra tested by my son, neighbors, friends, etc …

In this case, I made these colors so eye-catching for a little fanatical friend of mine. Frozen. So I made a recipe for the play dough I shared some time ago here and dyed it with the colors she asked me for. Dark and light violet, fuchsia pink and pale pink and turquoise and light blue.

The result is seen in images, beautiful and very bright colors achieved with edible dyes. Yes, with edible dyes! All the ingredients are natural and edible and there is no problem for little ones to put their hands to their mouth when playing. In addition the texture is similar or more beautiful than the masses type Play Doh and much cheaper. Another advantage is that we know the ingredients we use, none of them are toxic, on the contrary, they are edible. (if children accidentally put their hands in their mouths, there will be no danger).

There are two versions for the same recipe, one with cooking and another that is made with all the ingredients cold. I personally prefer the recipe with cooking because that way we make sure to remove all liquid residues from the preparation. But if you’re in a bit of a hurry, the other recipe is great, too. I’ll pass you the ingredients so you can make it for your kids.

Recipe of homemade Plastilina with cooking

Ingredients:

  • 2 1/2 cups plain flour
  • 2 cups hot water
  • 2 tbsp. cooking oil
  • 1/2 cup of fine salt
  • 2 tablespoons cream of tartar
  • Edible vegetable dyes

Preparation:

  • Mix the flour, salt, oil, cream of tartar and water in a container that we will then take to the fire, preferably teflon so that the dough does not adhere.
  • Cook over moderate heat while stirring, use a wooden or Teflon spoon.
  • You will notice how little by little the water evaporates and the ingredients come together. Once the dough has formed and is not stuck to the pot, remove and turn over on the table kneading well until it cools. You can start by moving the dough with the spoon until it burns your hands.

Homemade Plastilina without cooking

Ingredients:

  • 2 1/2 cups plain flour
  • 1 1/2 cup hot water
  • 2 tbsp. cooking oil
  • 1/2 cup of fine salt
  • 2 tablespoons cream of tartar
  • Edible vegetable dyes

Step by step:

Mix the flour, salt, oil and cream of tartar in a bowl. Slowly add the hot water until a sticky mass is obtained. Leave to cool until it can be kneaded without burning.

Once it’s cold, divide it into as many parts as you want to get colors, I divided it into six. Place the edible vegetable dye on each portion and knead well, adding flour little by little until the desired consistency is obtained.

And that’s it!… The dough is ready to start playing…

Advice:

  • If you want to obtain several colors with this dough, separate and place the desired color, knead again well to integrate the color.
  • If you want the whole dough to be the same color you must place the colorant along with all the ingredients at the beginning of the recipe.
  • This dough lasts a long time if you keep it in an airtight nylon bag or a covered plastic container.
  • It is a very soft mass, easy to model, does not peel. The consistency is similar to plasticine.

If you need plasticine in quantity, for a kindergarten for example, you can see the recipe here.

I hope you like this version of homemade Plastilina and make it for your children, I assure you that they will love it!
