Kamila had always dreamed of going to live with her family in the country, to an old house that she could reform herself. Instead, for her husband, the ideal destination was a small coastal town, with a beach where he could fish and swim. Luckily, they found the perfect place for both of them in an area located on the outskirts of the city, with a nearby lake and green areas. The couple were encouraged to shape what was really going to be the perfect house for everyone, including her three children: a six-year-old girl and her two younger brothers, four and three. The project was carried out by the interior designer Maria Malinowski, from the Shoko Design studio, with whom the owner hitched from the beginning.
Maria captured the owner’s wishes right away and together they worked to achieve them. “We understood each other perfectly! After our first meeting, it was clear to us that the end result would be a success. We agreed on many things.
We both like natural materials, reclaimed wood, neutral colors, fiber furniture … It was a pleasure to do this project ”, the interior designer tells us. That feeling it gave rise to an atmosphere where the married couple and their children feel good, with spaces in which the family is happy. To achieve this, it was key to listen to the owner, delve into her dreams and make them come true.
The house consists of a single floor, open to the outside so that the light fills the interiors with positive energy, and resistant materials that age well over time were chosen, such as porcelain or wood. “The floor of the whole house is a wide plank platform, and since she loves old country houses, we put beams on the ceiling,” says Maria, who through the decoration also managed to awaken emotions. “We choose all the furniture together. There are mesh pieces, like the dining room chairs, the master bedroom closet or the headboard… Kamila likes them because they remind her of the past and there is no doubt that they have a special charm. There are also Nordic designs and others from antique stores, such as the girl’s bed. But most of the furniture was made to measure for the project ”, explains the interior designer. He tells us that he especially enjoyed this project, because the couple knew how to take risks and create a personal style.
“We love the fusions of various styles”
These are the words of the interior designer of Shoko Design. And it is demonstrated in the living room of the house, a mixture of industrial aesthetics and Nordic design: exposed brick, aged wooden beams, black and gray tones, metal lamps, the coffee table on wheels, furniture with simple lines and finishes. clear …
The owners of this house planned their house on a ground floor that takes advantage of the light and views of the outside. In the living room, they chose to integrate the living area and the dining room, without creating barriers.
Kamila is happy because she has managed to make a house to suit her. He had clear ideas and decided every detail together with the interior designer of the Shoko Design studio. His goal was to create a comfortable home for his large family, which led him to unite dining room and kitchen. Between them, he placed a hammock-type swing. They all love it!
BEDROOMS
The three children of the family have a bedroom for each one. This is the one of the little one in the house, who loves to draw, that’s why Mom installed a roll of paper on the wall where she improvises her creations.
“My daughter is a little princess. She loves putting on my heels, putting on makeup like me, adorning herself with all kinds of jewelry, and of course, she loves clothes. She has thousands of dresses! ”, The owner tells us. For this reason, her bedroom is a delicate and ultra-feminine space, with classic furniture, modern designs and touches of chalk pink.
Two of the owner’s passions are reflected in the decoration of her bedroom: the painter Frida Kahlo, on a sheet resting on the floor, next to the bed; and the wood, present in the running shelf, the log-shaped table or the desk as a dressing table that he placed near the window. He also has a weakness for natural textures, fibers, and fabrics such as cotton and linen. The headboard wall, as in the living room, was painted black; a color that, in addition to character, adds a touch of modernity to the space.
A PRACTICAL BATHROOM WITH DOUBLE USE
It is the one used by children and, inside, it has a sliding wooden door. When friends come home, the sheet slides off and part of it is transformed into a guest toilet. To make the freestanding bathtub stand out, the area where it was installed was paved with a mosaic of hexagonal tiles in black.
