In fact, it was in the Venetian republic that architects and painters applied it on the walls and also on the ceilings of palaces, villas and cathedrals to create particular effects.

The walls, in fact, at first glance they remembered natural stone, but in reality they were smooth and shiny. In this way it was possible to give the impression that the rooms were luxurious, but not so much was spent and above all the jobs were much simpler.

The Venetian plaster is made from a mixture of water, lime and marble dust. But today is also a lot frequent add dyes to obtain walls of different shades.

Where it is convenient to apply Venetian plaster

Venetian plaster is very versatile, so in theory it goes well in any room and with almost any decor style. Furthermore, it has the advantage of being breathable, resistant to mold and moisture and for this is recommended in all of those rooms particularly humid.

How to maintain untreated Venetian plaster

When we talk about untreated Venetian plaster, we are referring to that without the wax layer. The surface will therefore not be water resistant.

In this case, if there are stains, the only way to try to intervene is to use alcohol. This must be put on a leather cloth with which we will then try to dab the dirty area. Need rub very gently so as not to damage the grout.

For regarding the Venetian plaster treated with wax, alcohol is instead a substance to be avoided. In case of stains, you can though to melt a few drops of detergent in a little bit of hot water and rub with a non-abrasive sponge.

We recommend not to use aggressive products and choose detergents with a neutral pH, for example Marseille soap is a great alternative.

If the stains are particularly resistant, on the market today They are gods specific products for Venetian plaster that are sprayed on the affected area. These are specially designed not to damage the surface, so they are an excellent remedy.

Finally, even the treated Venetian plaster needs constant maintenance. Dust it periodically it is important, you can do it safely with a soft dry cloth.
